Message from Scientific Committee Chairperson

Namaste from Bharatpur, Chitwan, Nepal!

Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the XXII NOSCON Annual Meeting at Sauraha Chitwan in 2020 was postponed. I’m delighted to let you know that Sauraha will play host to the XXIV NOSCON from October 14–15, 2022. Small town Sauraha serves as the entrance to Chitwan National Park, which is home to the One Horn Rhino, Royal Bengal Tiger, Sloth Bear, Leopard, as well as several reptiles and bird species. Chitwan National Park is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Elephant Safari is a popular tourist attraction for visitors from all over the world inside Chitwan National Park.

Promote Science and Art of Eye Care in Nepal is the focus of the XXIV NOSCON Annual Conference. If we go back in time, eye care services in Nepal were only in their infancy till 1980. Following the release of the Nepal Blindness Survey 1981 report, some renowned international eye care service providers traveled to Nepal to lend a helping hand in the country’s effort to prevent preventable blindness. The development of Nepal’s infrastructure and human resources took place between 1980 and 2000. These multinational partners helped Nepal provide large volume, high-quality eye care services at a very reasonable price. This attracted residents of the neighbouring Indian state, and all of the eye hospitals in the south saw a large volume of patients. According to various surveys conducted between 2006 and 2010, the prevalence of blindness (as defined by the WHO) decreased from 0.84 percent in 1981 to 0.35 percent in 2012. Eye care services in Nepal have seen numerous changes since 2010 just like in its neighbouring nations and the region. According to NOS, the time has come for Nepal to build a holistic eye care system that combines science and art.

World-famous speakers from all around the world will deliver on a range of themes. You will all have a fantastic opportunity to network with these accomplished individuals while also spreading the word about your research, study, or case report. You can gain CPD points by attending the scientific seminars on all ophthalmology subspecialties. You will all experience the highest caliber scientific events, including plenary talks, innovative presentations, and captivating posters, in addition to Sauraha’s stunning natural surroundings and the warm hospitality of the Nepali people.

On behalf of Scientific Committee, we look forward to your presence and contributions.

Waiting you all to welcome at Sauraha, Chitwan, Nepal.
